Very Reverend Archimandrite Elisaios, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra, Mount Athos

Elder Elisaios is the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra on Mount Athos. The Most Venerable Elder Elisaios was born in 1951 in Myrophylla, Trikala. In his adolescence he became spiritually connected with Elder Aimilianos, and during his studies at the Theological School of the University of Athens he was tonsured a monk at the Great Meteoro Monastery in 1973. In the same year he followed Elder Aimilianos in the re-establishment of the brotherhood at Simonopetra.

He was enthroned as Abbot of the Monastery of Simonopetra in 2000. He experienced the renewal of the monastic brotherhoods of Mount Athos and repeatedly served in the administrative bodies of the Holy Community of Mount Athos. He served as Chief Secretary of the Holy Community and as a member of various committees of the Holy Community.
