The Reverend Elder Joseph of Katounakia
Biography
Elder Joseph of Katounakia was born in Giannitsa of the prefecture of Pella on 15 November 1952.
He graduated from the six-year High School of his birthplace in 1970.
He received a degree from the Theological School of the University of Thessaloniki in 1975.
In the same year he settled at the hesychasterion of Saint Ephraim the Syrian at Katounakia on Mount Athos, as a disciple of Saint Ephraim of Katounakia.
He was ordained a priest in 1982.
Since the repose of Saint Ephraim in 1998, he has been the elder of the Hesychasterion of Saint Ephraim.
In 2000 he edited the writing and publication of the book Elder Ephraim of Katounakia (biography, teachings, letters).
He also edited and recently published the book Grace-filled Word: Saint Ephraim of Katounakia, Volume I (transcriptions).
