Theodoros Yiangou, Emeritus Professor, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Γεννήθηκε στη Βάσα Κοιλανίου Κύπρου το 1957. Διαμένει στο Αγγελοχώρι Θεσσαλονίκης. Είναι έγγαμος και πατέρας έξι παιδιών. Σπούδασε στη Θεολογική Σχολή Α.Π.Θ. και το 1979 έλαβε το πτυχίο με βαθμό «άριστα» (9.17). Ταυτόχρονα μέχρι το 1984 ήταν συνεργάτης του Πατριαρχικού Ιδρύματος Πατερικών Μελετών. Κατά τη διετία 1980-1982 παρακολούθησε τον μεταπτυχιακό κύκλο σπουδών στον πρακτικό κλάδο της Θεολογικής Σχολής του Α.Π.Θ. Από το 1984 μέχρι το 1986 παρακολούθησε μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα στο Pembroke College. Το 1991 ανακυρήχθηκε διδάκτορας του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής του Α.Π.Θ. με θέμα διατριβής: «Νίκων ο Μαυρορείτης. Βίος – συγγραφικό έργο –κανονική διδασκαλία». Το 1980 διορίστηκε στην έδρα του «Κανονικού Δικαίου και Ποιμαντικής» της Θεολογικής Σχολής Α.Π.Θ. ως επιστημονικός συνεργάτης του Τομέα Δίκαιο, Οργάνωση, Ζωή και Διακονία της Εκκλησίας. Το 1991 εξελέγη λέκτορας του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής της Θεολογικής Σχολής Α.Π.Θ. με γνωστικό αντικείμενο «Πηγές Κανονικού Δικαίου». Το 1996 εξελέγη Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο ίδιο Τμήμα. Το 2002 Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο ίδιο Τμήμα. Το 2007 Καθηγητής στο ίδιο Τμήμα. Κατά τα ακαδημαϊκά έτη 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2006-2007 και 2009-2010 ήταν Διευθυντής του Τομέα Δίκαιο, Οργάνωση, Ζωή και Διακονία της Εκκλησίας. Το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2003 2004 διετέλεσε συγκλητικός – εκπρόσωπος του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας στη Σύγκλητο του Πανεπιστημίου. Από το 2003 μέχρι σήμερα είναι μέλος της επιτροπής αναγνωρίσεως τίτλων πανεπιστημίων του εξωτερικού (ΔΟΑΤΑΠ) του κλάδου Θεολογίας. Από το 2009 μέχρι και το 2013 υπήρξε υπεύθυνος προπτυχιακών Σπουδών του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας Α.Π.Θ. Συμμετοχή επί σειρά ετών στην τριμελή επιτροπή παραλαβής υλικού και προμηθειών του Τομέα Δίκαιο, Οργάνωση, Ζωή και Διακονία της Εκκλησίας του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας. Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής για την Αναμόρφωση του Προγράμματος Προπτυχιακών Σπουδών του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας. Αναπληρωτής Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας (2011-2013). Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Ποιμαντικής και Κοινωνικής Θεολογίας (2013- 2015). Ο κ. Γιάγκου έχει πλούσιο επιστημονικό έργο. Είναι συντάκτης περίπου εκατό επιστημονικών άρθρων και μονογραφιών στο γνωστικό αντικείμενο πρωτίστως του Κανονικού Δικαίου. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέρονται εστιάζονται στους εξής τομείς: Πηγές του Κανονικού Δικαίου με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη μελέτη της χειρόγραφης νομοκανονικής γραμματείας× Σχέσεις Λατρείας και Κανόνων× Σύγχρονη Καταστατική Νομοθεσία× Μοναχικοί Θεσμοί. Professor Theodore Giagkou was born in Vasa Koilaniou, Cyprus, in 1957 and resides in Aggelochori, Thessaloniki. He is married and the father of six children. He studied at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in 1979 received his degree with the grade “Excellent” (9.17). At the same time, until 1984, he was a collaborator of the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies. During 1980–1982 he attended the postgraduate cycle of studies in the practical branch of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From 1984 to 1986 he attended postgraduate courses at Pembroke College. In 1991 he obtained his PhD from the Department of Pastoral Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the dissertation topic: “Nikon the ‘Mavroreites’: Life – literary work – canonical teaching.” In 1980 he was appointed to the chair of “Canon Law and Pastoral Theology” of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a research associate of the Sector “Law, Organization, Life and Ministry of the Church.” In 1991 he was elected Lecturer in the Department of Pastoral Theology of the same School with the field “Sources of Canon Law.” In 1996 he was elected assistant professor in the same Department; in 2002 associate professor; and in 2007 professor. In the academic years 2003–2004, 2005–2006, 2006–2007, and 2009–2010 he served as Director of the Sector “Law, Organization, Life and Ministry of the Church.” In the academic year 2003–2004 he served as Senate member–representative of the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology in the University Senate. From 2003 to the present, he has been a member of the committee for the recognition of foreign university degrees (DOATAP) in the field of Theology. From 2009 to 2013 he served as Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies of the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. For many years he participated in the three-member committee for the receipt of materials and supplies of the Sector “Law, Organization, Life and Ministry of the Church.” He was President of the Committee for the Reform of the Undergraduate Studies Program of the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology; Vice-President of the Department (2011–2013); and President of the Department (2013–2015). Mr. Giagkou has an extensive scholarly output. He is the author of approximately one hundred scientific articles and monographs, primarily in the field of Canon Law. His research interests focus on the following areas: Sources of Canon Law, with particular emphasis on the study of manuscripts regarding Canon Law; the relationship between worship and the canons; contemporary constitutional (statutory) legislation; and monastic institutions.
