Biography

Professor Konstantinos Kornarakis teaches in the Department of Theology of the School of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), with a field of specialization in “Christian Ethics – Bioethics.” He studied Psychology in the Department of Philosophy, Education and Psychology at NKUA, and Patristic Theology at Durham University (England). Within the framework of his teaching and research work, he focuses on issues of moral theology, anthropology and bioethics, as well as other contemporary ethical and anthropological topics, such as the ecological crisis and the use of technology. His research interests also include the study of patristic and Philokalic texts. He has authored scholarly work (monographs and articles) on topics related to his field. He participates in various committees dealing with bioethical matters. Specifically, he is a regular member of: the Synodal Bioethics Committee of the Church of Greece; the Pontificia Academia Pro Vita (Pontifical Academy for Life); the Bioethics Committee of the Conference of European Churches (2017–2022); the National Ethics Committee of the Hellenic National Organization for Medicines (EOF); the Hellenic Society of Bioethics; and the Bioethics Committee of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. He is President of the Supervisory Council for Ecclesiastical Education of the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, and a trainer/educator at the foundation.
